Borealis – a festival for experimental music
Borealis is a genre-crossing music and arts festival held each March in Bergen, Norway. Borealis is a place for adventurous listeners, celebrating music that doesn’t fit neatly in to any boxes. They present new projects from Norway and around the world that push the boundaries of what music is and how we listen. Borealis works actively towards equality in the music scene, and believes an equal gender balance makes for a better programme. But Borealis is more than just five days of concerts and events in March. As an organisation they are here all year round, creating experiences and spaces where listening and experimental music is in focus through their montly free Borealis Listening Club, their mentor programme for emerging composers; Borealis Ung Komponist and as collaborators on events like the one-day festival Poekhali! at Bergen Kunsthall, amongst other things.
